Motivation
KeySpan is the surviving entity of a merger between Brooklyn Union Gas and Long Island Lighting Company. It was Kenny Moore's job to bring together the personnel of the IT departments of the two merging companies. He decided to do it through an open space; meeting, wherein the 400 IT staff members would come together to voice topics they would want to discuss in subsequent breakout sessions. Modularity and its stance
The scientific study of cognition in psychology has a vast array of influential theories and theorists relaying them. Some theorists relay the human mind/brain as being totally modular while others, such as Fodor believe in modularity but argue the point of how effective this type of domain study really is in higher cognitive areas in the brain. There are some within the area of cognitive science that claim the use of modularity has lost its sustenance and is to simplistic now. Nature and Nurture
It has been discussed for a long time if the personality, talents and character are inherited or obtained with the upbringing and education. It is evident that the physical qualities are determined by the genes, but as far as the behaviour, character, intellect are concerned, the matter is not so clear. According to the opinion of many scientists, this old fight between the two arguments hasnt been already won by one of them, and it is still unclear if the major part of our identity is influenced by the DNA or our environment. The nature gives us certain inborn capacities and characteristics, environment uses these inherited features and designs them in the process of brining up and getting experience. But as long as the meaning of these two components in the process of forming the identity is not clearly set, the debates over nature and nurture still go on. View details
